When should I arrive for my year abroad?

I'm looking to book my flight ASAP, but I'm not sure how much time to give myself before I start work as a language assistant on 1st October. Any suggestions?

    Hi Rebecca,

We would generally recommend leaving 1-2 weeks to get yourself sorted out and get to know your year abroad location before your placement starts. However, it's completely up to you how much time you leave - some students prefer to squeeze everything into a few days, whereas others like to give themselves lots of time.

    A week is about average!

    Hope that's helpful.

    Hi Rebecca,

I would recommend between five days and one week. It's good to have some time to get your bearings, find the nearest supermarket, practice your journey to work/university etc.

Plus it's great to have some time to explore before the real work begins!

    Good luck!
