What are the best ways to find cheap flights?

I'm off to South America in a couple of months for part two of my year abroad, and I would like to find the cheapest flights possible (obviously!). What's the most straightforward way to do this?

I would look up the usual online sites:

    Expedia

    Opodo

    Cheapflights.com

...and remember that you might get some extra money off by booking direct from the airline once you've found it on one of those sites.

Travel agents sometimes have good deals.

You could try an agency specialising in catering for South American communities -  for instance in London I think you can find these in the South American market at Seven Sisters (231 High Road, N15 5BT).

I managed to get mine to Austria at the best price on Skyscanner.net

    https://www.google.com/flights/

In Melilla (and perhaps the case is the same for other Spanish territories outside of Spain) once you have your residency card, you can get a certificate that entitles you to half price tickets for planes and boats.
