What are the best blogging websites?

I've decided that a year abroad is a great excuse to start a blog! What are the best websites to use? I am fairly rubbish with computers so would appreciate something free and uncomplicated!

    Hi there,

I've seen our students use tumblr, wordpress and blogger, which I believe are all free and straightforward to use with different things going for them.

More and more universities also have their own, in-house blogging sites; King's has its own one and in some cases, students have been paid to write them by the Marketing team as it goes some way to helping the institution promote itself.

And then of course, there's Third Year Abroad!

Lots of options so take a look at two or three and see which one takes your fancy based on the look and feel of the site. We'll look forward to see what you start posting!

Hi, I thought the same thing as I am not one for complicated use of technology and such! However I recently set up my year abroad blog on wordpress and it is free, super easy to use and customise to your preference of colours, themes and add pictures and all sorts. Feel free to check mine out for inspiration! www.erasmusexplorer.wordpress.com

Our 'Adopt a Class' students also use all the above and it's great to see how different they all are and also that some of them have never blogged before but it's easy to get started and they produce wonderful blogs with video clips, recipes etc etc and as well as bringing the language alive for the school pupils here, end up with a great chronicle of their year abroad.

Tumblr is best for photos. Blogger is good for new bloggers as it's ridiculously simple to use. However, wordpress is far better as you have greater control of your blog  - more freedom to personalise, option of html, better stats analysis etc. but is "more complicated" to use if you're new to it.
