The Generation UK-China scholarships sound amazing but are the places very competitive? How many people apply?
I’m in my second year studying Mandarin, so I’m hoping my language skills will give me an edge, but do I need to be on a 1st or will a 2:1 do?

Great to hear you are interested in the Generation UK - China scholarship programme. For places for the 2016/17 academic year, we have over 150 scholarship places available across six of our joint programmes and our British Council China Scholarship programme. You're able to apply for as many programmes as you like as each location is assessed separately.
One of the key criteria's of our assessment is looking at the candidates motivations for applying and what they wish to gain out of this experience. Whilst we do take in account academic performance, there is not a minimum grade requirement. So we'd absolutely encourage you to apply!
Do take a look through our application form to familiarise yourself with all the different components, in particular the essay questions. This is where candidates really stand out.
