Have any female Year Abroaders had a similar experience?
I've just come back from my first semester of my year abroad which I spent studying in Italy. Since going to Italy in September, I've not had my period and this has started to concern me (so I am going to see a doctor) but I'm curious to know if any female year abroad students have had a similar experience of their periods changing/disappearing?

Hi, I found that mine were very irregular during my year abroad, most likely due to the huge amount of stress the year entails - I definitely skipped a few at least. Add stress to a change of routine and diet and it's pretty much a minefield. If you're worried you should see a doctor if only to put your mind at rest but you're by no means the only one :)
Yeah I missed a couple which then set me all out of sync and it was very much stress related with me (moved countries again, January exams and uni back home deadlines all in one week). It's pretty normal, our plumbing is notoriously fickle! But I'd agree about seeing a doctor if you're worried, for one thing the worrying itself is likely to contribute, for another it's better to check just in case. I settled back to my normal after a few months without doing anything about it if that reassures you :)
It is so normal! I went to see the doctor and he said that people who travel a lot often miss periods!
