GG at your university: information for Study Abroad Coordinators At Birmingham University

This article was written by Global Graduates, published on 4th November 2010 and has been read 4647 times.

GlobalGraduates.com was created to provide all the year abroad information we wish we'd had before we left, and we need to keep the site fresh and up-to-date! We're asking first and second years to get involved by telling us what they're worried about and inspiring fourth years to share as much information as possible about every aspect of their time away - planning, arriving, accommodation, money, courses, job-hunting, culture shock... the works! That way the site will remain the number one free resource for year abroad students!

Please do encourage your students to write for us and ask and answer questions - everything they contribute to the site will appear on your university's page to help you promote your uni's International Office!

We think exhibiting at university study abroad fairs and giving pre-departure/welcome back talks is the most effective way of showing students the importance of taking a year abroad, helping them prepare, spreading the word about what we're up to and getting students involved. To date we've been to Exeter, Nottingham, Aston, Birmingham, NTU, King's College London, Queen Mary's University London, Leeds, UCL, Edinburgh and Bristol universities, and many more!

1. How can we help you?
As Modern Language year abroad graduates ourselves, we are an enthusiastic team and can brighten up your event! With year abroad experience in Paris, Mexico, Madagascar and Florence between us and having worked full-time on research for GlobalGraduates.com, we have experience in solving problems for students and know all sorts of useful websites that can help make the whole process easier for students - from choosing where to go, travelling and finding out about events abroad to online language resources, all with special student offers and discounts.

2. A recent review...
"We had a warm and welcoming presence from Lizzie Fane from GlobalGraduates.com, who spoke to students and signed them up to assist them with their website, through blogs and mentoring, which is provided for all students who are about to embark on a year abroad." Natasha Edwards, Birmingham University Study Abroad Coordinator.

3. Bookings and costs
If you'd like us to come along to your university study abroad fair or preparatory talks or even provide posters and postcards for your event, then please contact us: [email protected] :)

Important: Due to high demand we are currently only accepting invitations to Study Abroad/Global Opportunities Fairs where we are also giving a talk. Our talks can entirely be tailored to your event, and we can work with you to ensure we cover topics such as pre-departure advice, entrepreneurship, careers with languages, careers with global skills and 'welcome back' advice with tips on maintaining language skills and job-hunting.
These talks are usually 40-60 minutes long, fun and engaging, with case studies from universities across the UK, surprising facts and invaluable resources. Our talks cost £300+travel. For more information, please email: [email protected].

Please order our free Global Graduates postcard pack for your school/university so we can help you promote international opportunities and languages to your students. You can also see the list of universities we cover on the site so far, with articles and answers written by their students. For more information, please contact us!
