1. What is a Saltire Scholarship?
Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships (SSS) is a substantial programme of scholarships, offered on a matched funding basis between the Scottish Government and Scottish Higher Education Institutions.
2. How many scholarships are available?
The scheme offers up to 200 awards, each worth £2,000.
3. What are the scholarships for?
The scholarships are designed to go towards tuition fees, for any one year of full time study, on an Undergraduate, Masters or PhD course at any of Scotland’s higher education institutions.
4. Who can apply?
The scholarships are available to students from:
- Canada
- China
- India
- Pakistan
- United States of America
Important! In order to be eligible to apply for a Saltire Scholarship, candidates must have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible course (click here for a full list of eligibility criteria).
5. Do I need to study something specific?
The scholarships are targeted at students studying subjects related to the creative industries, life sciences, technology, financial services and renewable and clean energy (read more about what study options are available here).
