Jess spent her year abroad in Paris, France. Read on as she fills the year abroad blanks...
My name is: Jess

I'm studying: French

For my year abroad I went to:
Paris, France.

While I was there I:
Did two internships, at the law firm SJ Berwin and the advertising agency CLM BBDO.

Five words to describe my year away are:
Time for exploration and self-discovery.

My top tips for anyone going there are:
Watch where you are walking, people do not clean up after their dogs! When you walk into a shop, say "hello". The onus appears to be on the customer to greet the shopkeeper, not the other way around.

Don't leave without:
Mince pies, something the French don't eat at Christmas time!

The best night out is:
There are lots of great bars and clubs, try Favela Chic or Andy Wahloo.

When your parents visit:
Go for a picnic in the Bois de Boulogne.

My favourite lunch place:
Amarino, who says you can't have ice-cream for lunch?

My best place for a hot date:
Cycling along the Seine on the vélibs at night, and wandering around the bridges when the building are all lit up.

On a Sunday:
Go to the theatre.

The most useful website I found was:
www.billetreduc.com is amazing for student-friendly deals for theatre, exhibitions, anything really.

If you want to fit in quickly, you should:
say"genre" as much as you would say "like" in English.
