I'm studying: BA French and History at Cardiff University
For my year abroad I went to: Liège, Belgium for 9 months
While I was there I: Taught English to trainee teachers as a British Council Language Assistant.
Five words to describe my year away are: Scary, stressful, exhilarating, fantastic, unforgettable.
My top tips for anyone going there are: Don't expect too much before you go, don't go with preconceived ideas!
The cleverest people find accommodation: Online before they go.
Don't leave without: Trying all Liège has to offer - the citadel, the food, the Carré etc.
The best night out is: La Maison du Peket for pre-drinks and then onto Le Carré til 6am
When your parents visit: Take them to Maastricht!
My favourite lunch place: Chez Victor for the frites!
My best place for a hot date: Anywhere but Liège!
On a Sunday: Remember the shops are closed, so go to the Parc de la Boverie, or if it’s 1st Sunday of the Month, go to the museums for free!
The most useful website I found was: Google!
If you want to fit in quickly, you should: Make lots of friends and try not to go 'huh?' too much!
