Get £1 off your International Student ID Card (ISIC)

1. What is an ISIC?

ISIC stands for International Student Identity Card. It's been used by over 40 million students since it was launched in 1968! With an ISIC, you get access to more than 42,000 discounts and benefits in 125 countries across the world. 

2. Am I eligible to get an ISIC?

The ISIC is only available to full time students. In order to apply, you'll need:

• A copy of your university student card/student identity card 
• A signed and dated letter from your university to prove that you're studying there full time 
• Proof of your date of birth 
• A passport sized photograph

3. I already have a UK student card. Why do I need an ISIC?

Although your university card is effective in the UK, there's a good chance that it won't be on the list of accepted forms of ID in many foreign countries. Think how annoying it would be to get to your year abroad destination, only to discover that you're stuck paying full price all year because you can't prove your student status!

The ISIC is the only internationally recognised student ID card. With an ISIC card, you can rest easy in the knowledge that you can make the most of your year abroad whilst saving the pennies.

4. Are there any other benefits?

The ISIC doesn't just give you access to student discounts. With an ISIC, you also get access to a 24-hour Emergency Helpline.

You can call this helpline any time for free legal, medical or travel advice (depending on what you need) in English, Spanish, French or German. The number to call is printed on the back of your ISIC.

5. How much does an ISIC cost?

Usually, an ISIC costs £12 in the UK. With the Third Year Abroad discount, however, you can get an ISIC for £11! The ISIC is valid for up to 16 months, so you'll have it for your whole year abroad (as long as you buy it in time!).
