Lucy spent her year abroad in Buenos Aires. Read on as she fills in the year abroad blanks...
My name is: Lucy I'm studying: History of Art and Spanish
For my year abroad I went to: Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
While I was there I: Taught English and worked for a property company.
Five words to describe my year away are: Fun, spontaneous, scary, educational, steak.
My top tips for anyone going there are: Be careful when packing...I took loads of clothes that I never wear. Pick a good bank account as my account gets
blocked all of the time. Read the local gossip magazines as you’ll learn lots about the country!!
The cleverest people find accommodation: Craigslist.
Don't leave without: Baked beans, sweet chilli sauce, marmite, tea bags, hobknobs.
The best night out is: Kika, Club Niceto, Bar Río, Frank’s Bar.
When your parents visit: Cabaña Las Lilas, Osaka, go to an estancia, visit Tigre, go shopping in Galerías
Pacífico.
My favourite lunch place: Oui Oui, El Pani, Mark’s Deli, Croque Madame.
My best place for a hot date: Museo Evita, Million.
On a Sunday: have an asado, go rollerblading in Palermo parks, go to Tigre market.
The most useful website I found was: Oasis collections: it has really helpful blogs, also landingpadba.com.
If you want to fit in quickly, you should: Make sure you speak Spanish to everyone and don't be shy!
