In precisely five days...142 hours...8564 minutes...(Not that I am counting or anything...) I must take that single step of leaving behind the things I know and love - my bed; Cadbury's chocolate; my family; my boyfriend of five years; that wonderful English weather (ahem...) and begin on the journey of my Third-Year abroad.

The deadline to the end of my life at University in England as I know it is fast approaching... In fact, in precisely five days...142 hours...8564 minutes...(Not that I am counting or anything...) I must take that single step of leaving behind the things I know and love - my bed; Cadbury's chocolate; my family; my boyfriend of five years; that wonderful English weather (ahem...) and begin on the journey of my Third-Year abroad.   However daunting the prospect might be of moving to a foreign country, I have no choice. I have heard all the phrases in the book from family and friends telling me "you will have a fantastic time," "the time of your life!" "You won't look back", but that isn't giving me much relief to the fact that in one weeks time I will be sat alone on a bed in a room that is not mine, wondering what the hell to do next whilst waiting for my new French life to begin. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to the time when a French person doesn't realise that I am English... or the time when I don't hesitate to answer a question in a lecture because I can understand everything... but this is a while off yet, and in the meantime I am stuck with, "ahh you are engleeesh?" and " Est-ce que vous pouvez repeter la question s'il vous plait?"   But hey! it is five days to go, I haven't got half of my clothes washed...there is no way that all of my shoes will fit into my suitcase... and I have no idea if I have all of the right documents... but it will be alright on the night! Hopefully with my collection of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Gavin and Stacey and a years supply of Cadbury's Hot Chocolate powder, I won't go totally insane, and I will return (hopefully) fluent in two languages.   Here goes...
